1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Rekal, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

2. Description of Service

Rekal is a mobile application that generates quizzes from user-provided content (YouTube transcripts, PDF text, typed notes) using artificial intelligence, and evaluates user answers using semantic AI grading. Available on iOS and Android.

3. Your Account & Identity

Rekal may offer optional account creation for features like cross-device sync. You may also use the app with only an anonymous device identifier. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and access to your device.

4. Subscriptions and Payments

• Rekal offers a free tier and a paid Student tier ($6/month).
• Subscriptions are managed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
• Payment processing is handled entirely by Apple or Google, not by Rekal directly.
• Subscription terms, billing cycles, refunds, and cancellations are governed by the respective store’s policies.
• Prices may change with reasonable notice.
• You can cancel your subscription at any time through your device’s subscription settings.

5. User Content

• You retain full ownership of all content you provide to Rekal (YouTube URLs, PDFs, notes, answers).
• By using Rekal, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to process your content solely for the purpose of generating quizzes and grading answers.
• We do not claim ownership of your content.
• We do not share your content with other users.
• You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to use any content you provide.

6. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer

• Quiz questions, answer grading, and explanations are generated by artificial intelligence (Anthropic Claude).
• AI-generated content may contain errors, inaccuracies, or omissions.
• Rekal is a study aid and supplementary tool — it is NOT a substitute for professional instruction, official study materials, or qualified academic guidance.
• You should not rely solely on AI-generated grading for important academic or professional decisions.
• We continuously work to improve AI accuracy but cannot guarantee error-free output.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree NOT to:

• Use Rekal for any unlawful purpose.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, or extract source code.
• Interfere with or disrupt the app’s operation, servers, or infrastructure.
• Upload malicious, harmful, or offensive content.
• Use the service to generate harmful, abusive, discriminatory, or misleading content.
• Circumvent usage limits, subscription restrictions, or security measures.
• Use automated systems (bots, scrapers) to access the service.
• Share, resell, or redistribute your subscription access.

8. Intellectual Property

• Rekal, including its name, logo, design, code, and AI systems, is owned by Mobile Tech Media, LLC.
• AI-generated quiz content is provided for your personal, non-commercial study use.
• You may not reproduce, distribute, or commercialize Rekal’s content or features.

9. Limitation of Liability

• Rekal is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
• We are not liable for: inaccurate AI-generated content, data loss, service interruptions, or any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages.
• Our total aggregate liability is limited to the amount you have paid to Rekal in the 12 months preceding the claim.
• Some jurisdictions do not allow limitation of liability, so these limitations may not apply to you.

10. Termination

• We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these terms.
• You may stop using Rekal at any time.
• Upon termination, you may delete your data from app Settings.
• Sections that by their nature should survive termination (limitation of liability, intellectual property, etc.) will survive.

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States. Any disputes shall be resolved in the applicable courts.
